The Anti-Hero

Bacon and Eggs
Speck und Eier
Still, the face of an angel
With a smile to warm up all of Switzerland

Politically  correct he’s not
At 6’4” he doesn’t have to be
So what if his beard is graying
So is that strand of hair of mine
Standing on end
when he walks into the room
and smiles

Coming around the corner
In the refrigerated section
Was he conscious of that whole leg
of something sentient in his cart?

Yet the ramen and the flesh
Only add to this unspeakable attraction
That is one in many
Only a matter of time until my attention shifts
To Steve, maybe
Or the new housing guy

Whatever
whenever
In my mind
Our lives take on all kinds of positions
Yoga for the soul
I’m out of breath
From all that emotional workout

Life is good
