Forked Tongue

Gaping wounds with their toothless mouths hung open
Deaf-dumb red tongues pouring out
Now they fade into skin and look like wrinkles
That will find their companions in years long off
They are all over my body:
Ankles, Hips, Stomach, Breasts, Hands and Wrists.
Penetrations plainly visible with the naked eye.
But I am the only one naked enough to see them,
Though they are my tell-tale signature on flesh.
I see them as marred-medals of courage and honor.
You can act, but I am beyond that
Mine is a fatality, but hiding is easy
You hide it and no one can see
I'm naked and no one will see
They're all over my body: hands.
Your gaping mouth hangs open, deaf-dump red tongue slithering out
Your wanton-ways wrinkle my skin, fading in.
You're all over my body.
I'm naked under your eye.
And you take my honor and courage
It's written all over me and no one will see.

"Why should I live? Why should I do anything? Is there in life any purpose which the inevitable death that awaits me does not undo and destroy?" --

Not entirely sure how to take this one personally, but I like the writing nonetheless.  I think it is an extremely powerful piece and is a great read.  Your words elicit very powerful themes and images.  I really liked this piece.
