I beg my thoughts not to stray,
but eventually they do,
and so do my tears
As I’m taken back to a memory
that refuses to pass

And as they wander off
to where they truly want to be
I realize I wish to come along,
but time keeps pulling me away
and there is nothing I can do

So I am left alone
as my thoughts stray
Left looking through a window
watching them play,
wishing I could join them before it closes

(big hugggssssss) I understand how you feel, sweet friend, sometimes when I have a dream, I just want to hold it close and write ir down, but sometimes other thoughts interrupt and I can't help but cry losing fragments of beautiful dreams I have! (sigh) This is sooooo well-said, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet freind, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

It's not such a bad thing to get lost in our thoughts and let them take us where they will.
As long as we are left with the pleasant ones!
I enjoy your poetry GenXer~

Dave,

Memories can be so strong.  As much as you fight, they usually win.  I really liked this.

This is very excellent, Dave...Its the first free verse poem of yours I have read and I must say that you really did a great job of it.
Just don't let those stray thoughts of yours get sick by eating too much of that NY pizza.

even if the pizza does have a smiling face.

I saw several meanings as well, and each time more profound in its meaning.  I read it twice and enjoyed it more the second time as I read it aloud, great job on this one.

Wow!  I never thought I would see this one again.  Thanks Mysteria, and thanks to all who read this.  I have bought a leash for my thoughts, so this won't ever happen to me again.lol
