All Things New

~*Marge Tindal*~

Returning to my heart in a whisper
on each and every day
Something that she said to me
keeps me anchored in some small way~

I would like to think
that she knows I still recall
her gentle, knowing smile
when she was my all~

Now that I'm a grandmother
I know just why she took the time
making sure I'd remember
family stories to pass down in rhyme~

Remembering *Annie Wainright*, my great grandmother
She was the epitome of grace in lace~
Each memory as fresh as the day she placed it there~

~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~

My cousins and I use to tease our grandmother that she wasn't a REAL grandmother... no cookies ever fragranced her oven and spoiling was for old milk, not for grandchildren. *S* But heavens above, how I miss her. *S*

Thank you for sharing your great grandmother in this tender beauty, Marge... We're so glad she gave you the stories. *S*

This is a wonderful tribute to a woman who obviously meant so much to you. She would be so proud of you for carrying on the tradition of rhyming.
Last Christmas my sister and I raided my Mom's house and 'borrowed' all the old family pictures. We found pictures of my great-great grandparents. They are such a treasure!  Hugs, Marti

Marge: I loved this poem and your great grandmother looks so charming and lovely. Did she write poetry too?

*Friends, I thank each of you for the wonderful replies~

Yes, she also wrote poetry, grew flowers, collected music boxes, put me in touch with my Cherokee heritage, taught me sooooo much about gentleness and friendship~

She was an elegant lady~

~And CatalinaMoon ... yes, hon ... I know and understand~
Love n' hugs to all~

What a very special character accolade, Marge.
I am sure i am not mistaken to say that you are several
parts her, and the rest your own experience.  Such value
on the family stories we should place, but do give ourselves
the time to listen when we should?  You have given us a great
message today.
