Beneath My Skin

he made me feel
like I was
the only one
in the room
maybe the only
one in the world
when I spoke
not only did
he listen
he heard me
watching like I was
the prized spoon
in his mothers kitchen
waiting for his turn
to lick my language
taste liquid laughter
I watched him
never once did he
look another way
even though I
pretended not to
for the first time
in a very long time
someone saw
something beneath
my skin

"Pour yourself thick, when it is you, that you spread."

Out of all of your fine poems, this one touched me the most.  Not only do I wish that I had written this, but, it speaks of what I long for.  You MUST publish your poetry   And, of course, this is a keeper!~

Take care,
Melissa~

Isn't it good to feel seen, really seen? You did this so well
