True Friendship

by Michael

It first begins with baby steps
and stumbles as it learns to walk.
It learns to speak, as babies do,
before it truly learns to talk.

Above all else is honesty,
for friendship never tells a lie.
It won’t repeat the words you speak.
It’s always there if you need cry.

Friendship forgives, when others won’t.
Unselfish, it must always be.
It only wants your happiness,
the best there is for you to see.

It will not steal and will not judge,
nor will it fear to compromise,
when disagreements come about,
for you’re the twinkle in its eyes.

You are the hands that it will hold,
through happy times and times of grief.
It’s your embrace that it will seek,
for reassurance and relief.

Friendship admires and compliments.
It makes a nest within your heart.
It thrives on laughter, love and smiles
and knowing that of you, it’s part.

Dedicated to all the wonderful friends I've made here at Passions.  Each one of you knows the meaning of True Friendship. Thank you for always being there for me.

Stars will shine when I am gone
Earth will spin on as before
Gulls still race along the shore
Morning star, still kiss the dawn

Auguste - I just love this poem on friendship!! You have written words of wisdom most definitely. Chris

This is what I tried to imply on my poem about Watchwords, Michael...friends should realize you are their friend and that words  and wrong meanings can sometimes strain a relationship without meaning to.  This was  very well done..your friendships on here show in the responses.

thank you for sharing *s

One of the things I like best about true friendships is knowing that even though time and situations set friends apart for awhile, they always come back, just as if they picked yesterday's conversation back up...

This is a wonderful expression of what friends mean Michael. What would life be like without those around us who care about our pains and joys?

If she who dies with the most toys wins, then can I have some toy boys please?

Oh way to make me feel bad with this awesome poem! *walks away to make some amends*

I want to die peacefully, in my sleep, like my grandfather, not screaming, terrified, like his passengers.

Martie,
This could have been written by any of my true friends, including yourself, because we all view friendship for the valued gift it truly is.  Thank you *hugs*

Chris,
Thanks a lot!  Thank you also for taking time to read.

Victoria,
It's always such a pleasure finding your lovely name on one of my posts.  Thanks, my friend. *hugs*

Tara,
Yes, another lovely name.  Thank you, my friend. *hugs*

Noah,
So good to see you here.  Thank you much!

Nancy,
Yes, aren't there some very wonderful people here?  I've never found it so easy to make friends, as I have here.  Thank you!

Maureen,
Yet another lovely name and that of one of my sisters.  And yes, I completely agree with you.  Thank  you!

Floria,
Truly it is golden and yes, truly a gift.  Thanks!

Susan,
I echo your words completely, sweetie.  I love you dearly and think the world of you.  Thank you and thank you for keeping this also.

amigo,
Yes, this is a wonderful place and friends are here all around us.  Thank you!

Karilea,
Yes, you've said it so well.  Time and situations will sometimes work against friendships, but true friendships will always be there to be picked back up as if time and distance never intervened.  Thank you!

Tracey,
I know a few people without friends and their lives are dim at best.  Friends are often closer and more caring than family.  Thank you, my friend and *hugs* to you.

James,
Yes, very much so.  Thank you!

Skyfire,
No need to feel bad or make amends, at least not to me.  Thanks and a peaceful day to you.

Earth will spin on as before
Gulls still race along the shore
Morning star, still kiss the dawn
