Island drums beat within the soul of the sun
sunset dances upon the stage of the seas
sapphire waves sway within hula fires
enticing a soft ukelele breeze
a flowing skirt of amber rays
beneath sleepy skies of mountain blue
chanting winds serenade palms of dusk
as spirits of the sunset bids adieu
porcelain sands glow in the moonlight
young lovers bathe in the night
to soft whispers of mating whales
beneath leis of misty twilight
softly echoing native love songs
moonlight gently removes her sarong

"Mistakes are the portals of discovery."
-- James Joyce

Wonderful imagery here Victoria...
your titles are as alluring as your poetry.
beautiful poem...now we need a travel agent.

You never knew what I loved in you,
I dont know what you loved in me ...
Maybe the picture of somebody you were hoping I might be.

OK Lady Vic...made me feel like I was back
on the island again....We used to go to
eat at a place that had a trio that played
hawaiian songs while a dancer danced...
Enjoyed it...but alas...the sarong stayed
on....darn, darn, darn!

Hello Victoria

I have been to Hawaii and your words took me back there as I smelt the frangipani flowers and felt the sun on my back.  This was so beautifully written and so much enjoyed.

Take care......Sue

O, Victoria, take me along! Please! I'll carry your bags, shine your shoes, fetch your brandy. Whatever. Just to see the Hula fires and all of those pretty dancing ladies.
