In times of old when men were men
and women were not always thin
In times of bold when maidens dared
and love of two was not then shared.

A heart did take the way of road
as knight did lift such heavy load
When maids did watch from balcony
and chaste was way of chivalry

Beyond the berm and dale and glen
await the fight for weary men
The foe does reap the life of sword
as regions fall not yet explored

Before the light of day comes dark
a view of struggle glares back stark
as crimson waters flow from life
and struggles give away to strife

These men of old that take the fight
in battle waged deep in the night
For right of life to just be free
as knights of old are meant to be.

Upon the wane of moon once high
sounds of haunt from lips trembling cry
and dead are stacked like cords of wood
as lifeless eyes stare from the hood

(sigh) Wow, this is soooooo hauntingly wonderful, sweet friend, I love the idea of chivalry so so much, though it can indeed have much rage and competition within it! (sigh) May we all revive this concept of comely love within our hearts and feel loves blessings without much pain, sweet friend, this is marvelous, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Barry, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Oh Magnus, this is now one of your best. The rythm and flow and rhyme, it is now one of my favorite. Love the last verse so much.

"Upon the wane of moon once high
sounds of haunt from lips trembling cry
and dead are stacked like cords of wood
as lifeless eyes stare from the hood"

This is perfectly written, it gets an A+ from me. floria

Magnus Hi there this brilliant I like this a lot. This is so good I can almost smell the battles and see the ladies fluttering around the court prettily.

Mind you it’s not hard when there’s 5 castles within 10 miles of here 3 of them practically on our doorstep. Hever Castle the family home of Ann Bolyne Second of Henry VIII wives beheaded Leeds Castle reputedly the most beautiful castle in England and Allington Castle the home of monks since 1300

Definitely the scenery for your wonderful poems. I really do love this one it’s so picturesque

Beautifully romantic and chivalrous, Barry.
I especially loved the first 2 lines.

In times of old when men were men
and women were not always thin

Its too bad that we have such pressure to stay thin now.
In the olden times, men liked fatter women because a fat wife was a sign of wealth.

I loved the entire poem...you are a genius, Barry. :
I think it would be nice if we could have it like that again because its so much more fun to eat than to diet.

..and lo the Knight, he heard the call
fair maiden, she watched him stall
for want of her? Or desire of right?
then the call heard answer of Knight...

Keep it up, Magnus...keep it up...

Heareth softest of thy call
Alone 'pon steed doth stall
Vow to guard thy maiden fair
Lift mine sword, thee I care.

Leave me not upon this day
for as thy Knight I must say
Tis liberty and honor vie
with thy heart's soft of sigh.

Thank You!  Yes,  I am...I am...I am..
