Famous tower tilts on angles
lots of money spilt on bangles;
plans to keep the landmark upright
ideas to keep an edifice in sight.

Built on an ancient river bed
first construction saw what workers led
the tower shifted to one side
it's falty base they could not hide.

some years later its height was extended
then its tilt, now famous, was perpended;
on the opposing face, if weights were attached
upper arches would be prevented from being detached.

In Mussolini's time tons of concrete was poured to no avail
the tower's tip swerved, yet there was no gail,
later, the Japanese came up with reinforcing the base support.
the tower today leans less by half a meter, at last report.

Miracle tower on display
your tower steeple in constant sway;
built on silty ground through the fault of a designer
among edifice creations, none has a personality so finer.

Nice tribute to a beautiful piece of history, Martin

There used to be a pizza place here which was called "The Leaning Tower Of Pizza"
