Year Without Santa Claus

I gave my heart to you this Christmas
to regain what was lost
blindly, I expected happiness
and so, I pay the cost.

It was a gift you dreamed of
a pendant of hope once more
you rejected my pure truth
I walked into your closed door.

This season there is no peace
no blessed release from above
diamonds can lose their shimmer
when what's missing most is love.

The ache within is an iceberg
sinking my once undaunted soul
you've plunged the last knife in my heart
I take it back, I let you go.

Mama, we have reached our end
you're no longer my best friend
your 'Missa' has long since died
from all the tears she has cried.

This is the year without Santa Claus
now, I wear a fool's crown
I'll throw this heart into the ocean
and slowly watch it drown.

Oh, Melissa, I do hope you are okay. This is a heart wrenching poem. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Chris

Melissa,

This so clearly describes the emotional devastation of unsatisfactory relationships on whatever level.

Your poem is perfect.

Just one point, and it's simply my theory.  I haven't always thought this.  It's never stupid to reach out in love.  Some people are just incapable of receiving.  Others are incapable of giving.  Loving is courageous and generous.  Never stupid!

There have been times when I simply gave to myself what I wanted from someone else. We just keep learning how to love better--ourselves and others.

Love yourself and others will get the message.  You are so worth it!

God bless!

Shenachie
