In the space between moments

0 posted 2002-03-05 09:25 PM

Laid forth in aqueous slumber
A sweetened form does rest,
Drifting slow and sinking soft
As amber sun does set.

Waves of hair, interwoven
With flowers silver-white,
Fall around her wintered skin
As life drowns into night.

Madness fades along the edges
Of purple turning sky,
And pain surrenders silently
In her gentle closing eye.

Sweet Ophelia, nevermore
To breathe of springtime air,
Never to dream, never to be
And of happiness, left bare.

(big hugggssssss) Oh Krista, this is so very sad, my heart cries out to everyone who feels summer has fled from their hearts and I pray with all my heart they can find hope and light once more and bring new dreams and flowers to blossom before their very eyes, humming with loves music! (kiss on cheek) This is so sad but beautiful, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Krista, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

indeed. . .

there is much that speaks here. . . the loss. . .the feelings of never seeing again. . .

well done. . .

This image of Ophelia likes me much. You've rendered here a fitting portrait of sorrow and beauty to fit this character. I especially loved the third stanza:

"Madness fades along the edges
Of purple turning sky,
And pain surrenders silently
In her gentle closing eye."

The coming night seems like the closing eye of Ophelia, and thus entire world.. So strikingly sad! I loved this poem, my dear

"A hard, cold wisom is required for goodness to accomplish good. Goodness without wisdom always accomplishes evil" - Robert Heinlein

This is superb! As I read the poem, I could SEE Ophelia - her hair, the flowers. Krista, this is beautiful. I'd like to see you repost some of your earlier pieces too. Share them with the newbies!!

Thank you all for responding so nicely!  It's been a while since I've written anything....I just finished reading Hamlet for the first time and I was fasinated by the character of Ophelia...and I felt inclined to describe the image of her death.  Thank you all once again, I really appreciate it!
