Like an artist skilfully paints a masterpiece
So do words paint a magical scene
From the colors in a poet's palette
They capture life so real and serene

Many beautiful images are revealed
As pens flow with words of love
Sending many hearts soaring
And lifting spirits high above

Picture two star-crossed lovers
Standing by the water face to face
Like a magnet they are drawn together
Whilst their fingers interlace

Sometimes I feel pain and heartache
From the words that I read
But regardless of the subject
On poetry my mind eagerly feeds

I am such a hopeless romantic
This is a fact that I can't deny
I love writing of all things romantic
Of true love that makes one sigh

So whenever I begin a new canvas
I'll hand pick the words straight from my heart
And hope that by the time I have finished
I'll have created a lovely work of art
