The Door

There are so many doors
in a closed eye thought.
I pour out the tear in this one,
spread it out so thin
that each layer curls in.

You were there
touching my hair
like listening wind.
There in the music
I named what was missing,
and with the surety of my own surrender,
I left the door ajar.

Now, weathered by waiting at the window,
even this light day
cannot find the balloon in me.

Destiny's wings call,
“cannot,”
into the flapping of my frenzy.
“You cannot change the jewel I marked
with your full name to wear against
the gale of breathing in.

You will always know love
melted a place kept closed,

for in opening that door you lost the key.”

Hello Alice...why Martie, it IS you...deep within the warren of the rabbit's hole, I could have sworn I was down here by myself, having tea with the MadHatter...

my dear...this speaks well of your growth, not only in your soul, but of your written word...

this is a Keeper...solemn, and heartfelt...

martie,
I read this several times, each time finding something else to think about, something else to like about it. I came away thinking of how when we accomplish some things, we lose the ability to ever return to the place we were...and it is the change, bittersweet, we can alomost regret...almost..but not quite for we are whow e are and where we are because of those changes...

Just beautiful Martie. Enjoyed. Chris

This, in some ways is a very different style for you...yet the classic Martie poetry holds true...which is the key to growth...stretching but not losing our signature stamp.
The imagery in this is so unique and I see so many layers in the metaphors and analogies.

There are so many doors
in a closed eye thought.

what a very very cool line and premise that it. I'm gonna keep my eye on you LOL
mothy me

So it seems your saving grace was only saving face,
you thought he was wanting you...
but he was only wanting you to let him off the hook.
