             the Watcher (and the Watched)

I had disposed of hope ages ago
       imaging a before-someplace, a destination
unattainable, but always just out of reach
A brief glimpse, a residue image
that was all I saw of the Watcher
but it was enough to coil my spirit like a cobra
      and draw me to her
Hostility was an hors d'oeuvre served cold
with much gusto I devoured it, or it me

After that one day, on the balcony
when the Watcher pierced me with assurance
       I knew I was changed
Everything I was to do - every motion I was to make
she would see, view, and critique
feel her, but not see her, yet she was there
the ceaslessly rustling taffeta sound before she arrived
       always leaving me the Gift
            hope

When she had thoroughly tainted my soul
painting it in galleries of beneficence
she let me finally see her, fully, shimmering virtue
she smiled, giving me the Gift one last time
                faith

I was ne'er to see her again,
except to feel her at great distances
perhaps still Watching, still over my shoulder

    I kept with me, always,
           another Gift
    the large gilded, golden feather
that had dropped from her massive wings

I am sitting here smiling and shaking my head in amazement!  What an outstanding write this is!  Seldom does a piece render me speechless but this one has my friend.  Exquistely penned!  Breathtakingly beautiful in word and presentation!  I cannot find the words..so I shall just say, thank you, and into my library this goes.

Okay..
please slap me.. because I don't know if I've ever read anything of yours or not. This was breathtaking.

For all who watch.Dare you say hello? Come in and ask the questions that are on your mind, but spare me your judgement until you truly sipped of me.
