Listening to every heart

0 posted 2002-03-03 07:59 AM

                                  Choose from Any

                                  I am one of many
                                  A character of line
Sometimes I am dull and flat
                                  Passion, unrefined…

Then a poet takes a pen
                                  And whips me a desire
That is when I in bend
                                  Begin to light the fire

                                  I become a syllable,
                                  Then lent an adjective
                                  I begin a storied verse
                                  Then begin to live

For I am of the alphabet
                                  Alone, I am not much
But if you shall give me wing
                                  Then a heart I’ll touch

                                  Start with any language
                                  And scribble me astray
For if left on whitest page
                                  I shall surely stay

                                  Let your ink leak liquid
                                  Let your verses flow
                                  Take my many characters
                                  Allow your heart to show

                                  Imagination! Take over,
                                  From mountain peak to vale
                                  Let the words ring louder
                                  Give the billows sail!

                                  Start each wondrous day anew
Share with every one your view
Spread the shimmering drop of dew
                                  Share emphatic, “I love you”

For I am of the alphabet
                                  Alone, I am not much
But if you shall give me wing
                                  Then a heart you’ll touch

I'll pick S ..for Sunshine
or perhaps P for Poetess ...
but then -- S already covered that

Dont walk before me, lord knows I cant follow
dont walk behind me, I dont think that I can lead
dont walk around me cause you know how dizzy I get.

And when you give it wing
It flys so very high
Each poem I read of yours
Ends with a sigh ~

You, my friend, are never 'dull and flat' - how one can write such beauty about something like the alphabet is beyond me...still, and always,  learning from you...

Sunshine!

This is awesome!  There is a bit of Jewish folklore that says God called the world into being by reciting the (Hebrew alef-bet) alphabet.  We call words into being by putting the letters together and you put them together beautifully.  You have definitely honored the sacredness of your creative gift.

May God continue to bless you so richly!

If I were to choose from any
I'd not know where begin
So I'll pick the letter F
And simply call you friend
