Here I stand and look upon
the far horizon at the dawn.
I turn my shoulder to the wind
and feel the chill upon my skin.

The morning sun begins to rise
and spread it's glow through eastern skies
bringing with it on it's way
promise of a brighter day.

All the coldness of the night
pales against the sun's bright light,
I close my eyes and feel the heat
envelope me with each heartbeat.

While flowers, birds and butterflies
unmask their beauty to all eyes,
memories both old and new
linger like the morning dew.

Though this day will soon be past
the warmth within my heart will last,
to see me through the darkest night
and be renewed with dawn's first light.
