The
Weather Beaten Relic
~~~
A weather beaten relic
still survives
to fluster gale
As memories entertain
they fetch a smile and tell a tale
Its solid composition
proves
the carpenter was smart
for every day
he deemed it play
a most important part
~
Behind the house
across the yard
twas quite the ways to walk
Beyond the barn
and past the shed
where chickens met the block
Amidst the flower garden
as mother kept it well
On winding path 'neath blooming vine
pervades
its scents of smell
~
The call of nature
filled the air
the evening breeze could flower
More oft' than not
as grandpa sat
to read beneath the bower
The early birds
would fight the coons
for dew worms on the ground
The richest crop to bless a hook
were gathered close around
~
Spiders never rest
at night
they weave from every place
The morning mist
befalls the webs
that burst upon your face
And honeybees
felt right at home
I always wondered why
but tarried not
nor lingered long
as thunder struck the sky
~
With winter storms
a howling
it was the place to shiver
The backside
barely touched the seat
as you began to quiver
I said before
and it be true
The man that built
had reason
he must be surely howling
since bellow's
the town's artesian
~~~

Rex darling boy This is one of your utter utter best poems darling boy, as always you write with utter wonder, your pen is dipped into magic dust I think. And this caught me within it and carried me on.

Didn’t I say you are a great writer, and I see my darling daughter (Krissy) agrees with me, she obviously has good taste

Truly outstanding writing and I love it love it love it.

Love and warm stuff

Believe it or not, I'd rather have an old relic than be caught without...

I knew by the end of the first stanza exactly where this was going...blame that darned old ESP...she's a'working!

But did I smile?  You bet'cha!

BRAVO!!! Ooohhhhhhh...this is a wonderful piece, sweet friend, I too can see that storm as a foreshadowing of what the rest of the poem would have too, the imagery is excellent! (big hugggssssss) We all love you so much, sweet friend, you are a delight to us all! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Rex, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

If an old relic could speak... these would be the words... Awesome work, Rex..
