All round the trees surrounded us,
forcing us to take but one path.
I looked behind and saw gray
covering our night-time journey,
trees closing us in, forcing us
to forget where we had come from.

Our goal was but the theatre,
but our journey seemed so much more.
With her at my side I began anew,
starting another trek, passing through
this dark rite of passage to view
a world that, briefly, I once knew.

I believed all of this was my own,
a God-given revelation.
She was a divine instrument
for my lonely self improvement.

This brief foolishness
brought on an era.
But, trained in mathematics,
I could not weigh the dear costs.

I am so awful in mathmatics, it's the reason I didn't continue beyond the first year of Physics and bombed out of the Master's program in Environmental Sciences.
SHEESH!
But then, this isn't about math anyway.
Hope all is going well, 'real'ationships are tough. One-on-one becoming ONE is not a simple formula.
