Midnight Black

When night has blackened sunset west
And cricket’s chirp is put to rest
This is the time when stars above
Pierce velvet night with dreams of love

The tolling of the midnight hour
Are chimes that waken love’s sweet flower
The moon fills dreaming eyes with light
And covers earth with silken white

It combs her hair with magic glows
And to her eye a gem bestows
Then bathes her skin in opal cream
Gives lips of love celestial gleam

Her bed in coverlet of white
Her pillow lit with star’s delight
The moon has touched her hands and gown
With halo rings in their surround

Such wasted dreams in midnight’s power
Alone this moon-drenched silken flower
The black of night like phantoms creep
And slowly put her heart to sleep

Very lovely, I can visualize this, so romantic, all it needs is a lover to join you in your dreams.  I imagine you have many at the ready, since who could not moved by such a scene of beauty.

I feel as if I have hit a treasure trove of Lady Santos' greatest writes...keep it up, for we all need to purge, and then some...

By the way...you do have me down as one of your number one fans, yes?

Liz - What a beautiful song!  I read it twice, and then read it once more, slowly, to fully appreciate the sadness and beauty.  You are truly incredible.

I wish I had said that

Wonderful write!
