In The Kokapelli's Song

quiet isn't a bad thing you know
my sweet friend and lover
silence can speak more words
than this tongue is capable
silence writes more beautifully
than my pen could ever hope.

my silence whispers
an entire lifetime of i love you's
caught within my husky breath
that will never  warm your ear
it restrains a thousand icy words
wrapped  in cushions of regret
that would cause nothing but pain

my silence sings a tender lullaby
to a daughter we will never hold
it provides a comforting haven
for the tears you'll never taste
falling from the golden pools
that reflect in starlit pureness
all that was and is forever yours.

my silence contemplates a refusal
to tear myself from the breaking waves
(so breathtaking...so destructive)
the day kissing the ocean, our backs turned.
I didn't want to leave then
I don't want to leave now.
but you've made all the choices for us

silence isn't a bad thing you know
my sweet friend and lover
silence will hold you  as I no longer can
it will drink of your soul thru topaz eyes
silence can give you all that I am not able
because I loved you with all my heart
(each word penned in scarlet proof)
and in silence I always will.
