I am the messenger of all gods
I will transport gifts of pods
you are a larger sister hidden in clouds
surface views are shielded by your shrouds
but after is the emerald planet
blue dot in an cosmic ocean of black
a resting place for my delivered pack.

I shy away from the planet of red
cut by volcanic action,
they said it was dead.
it has a sister planet, not as hot
with rings around it
of carbon dioxide crystals
it is thought.

And so my scope as your mercury
comes close for your security
my messages go far and wide
and wherever humanity cannot hide
'cause worldly men cannot imagine
the scope at which my winged feet take me
humanity cannot fathom, I am a god at liberty.

This is very Carl Sandberg, ec!  Good write.  Love the planetary metaphors.

As a Gemini, mercury is my ruling planet (which has been retrograde too long, I might add)

Loved this 'e'. I love it when poets channel gods! Would love to see more in this fashion.

Great job an on interesting topic.  I loved the dual description of Mercury.  About the only things you left out were the mercury in the thermometer and the automobile of the same name.

Amusemi,

Am complemented by that comparison..

Serenity

yes but if you see another post such this using planetary metaphors and you laud that...since it doesn't take much for any average poet to do...I am challenging you to a planetary, Sandburglike write..go ahead and enjoy!

Lyra,

still don't know where you dig up those nifty
clips but enjoy your comments almost as much
as reading some poems!

Don't know about the average poet thing, 'e'--and me and Carl Sandburg, tho I love the work, that style doesn't flow from me, but I'll think on it....Planetary, eh, well you can be sure of one thing...it won't be Uranus!
