Thought I'd get away from songs about love and hurt etc. just for a quick isolated
song write about something enjoyable. Here in Canada, the frozen north country,
we always look forward to putting our boats back in the water in the spring after
the ice goes out. It actually makes the seasons more invigorating and a person
always has something to look forward to.

Looking out I see the lights
along the harbour front
cruising days and drifting nights
are visions I recall.
Oh, oh, sweet memories
of times that we all love
soon we will feel them
sailing on the summer run.

Through the wakes and waves we'll glide
along the watery road.
singing songs along the flight
with wind to cleanse our soul.
Good-bye to shop work
we'll leave to plane the world
the streets will be fading
from our spreading swirls.

We believe that every roll
is a magic swing
and we'll be free from the toil
that everyday can bring.
Oh, time won't be wasted
we live so little years
in the blow of the cool spray
we wash away our cares.

Chorus: (can be anywhere)
Everyday's a mirror
reflections we repeat.
Everyone's a drifter
floating toward a dream
and every day we wake
and every breath we take
we'll sailing to be free.

Lapping waters linger on
when deep sleep does prevail
with the voice of freedom calling
from a new dawn sail.
Oh, oh, sweet memories
of times that we all love
soon we will feel them
sailing on the summer run.

Eric--A wonderful uplifting song...and thanks for the explanation, makes it interesting to know the reason behind the song.

ethome - it is nice to read this, about the area around where you live. And the fishing boats. Here on the Island I see the boats also as they make there journey to the sea in hopes of a catch...

To hoist a sail and skim the surface with the silence of silence in tow ... is a pleasure of sheerest joy to this lady~

A sail to serenity...take me along
lovely tune and imagery E-babes...
write on...sail on

You speak to me in riddles and you speak to me in rhymes.
My body aches to breathe your breath ... your words keep me alive.
