"It’s 24 degrees outside
and dropping fast"
Rattles the man behind a flashing 5:02.
A mist of synthetic water:
Some freezing on contact, some
carving streaks on sloped glass.

I turn towards the river,
weaving through clumps of trucks and trees;
Sun-shadow blinding
in reflections off of thin sheets of ice.
The squawking wipers do not dent these starbursts.

I bob my head like a tangled puppet,
struggling to make the left
sans bumper-car reenactments
and I’m through

And the radioman has oiled his voice
Purring just over the engine
“You’re listening to NPR”

While steep banks melt
in pumpkin-rose floes

Across 50 East

What a wonderful write.  I could feel Cincinnati!

My favorite line?  "While steep banks melt
                   in pumpkin-rose floes"

Well done, Ellen, and welcome to Open

My perception of truth will somehow never quite be the same..and so I write.

Thanks, Rose.  It was certainly more enjoyable than writing memos this afternoon

BRAVO!!! Oh my gosh, you write so beautifully and descriptively, I could see Cincinatti through your lovely words on a winter day! I've never been there but dream of seeing it! (kiss on cheek) Welcome to Open, sweet friend, this is a wonderful account of a vision! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Ellen, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Ellen, welcome to Passions.  I'm going to enjoy reading your pennings, I can tell....

Karilea
If I whisper, will you listen?...
I would rather be silent and write, than speak loudly and be bound.
