Here I am
it's 3 a.m.
and every drop
of blood is trite.
Here I am
haunting my skin
and I've forgotten
how to write.

I need, now,
to explain
the "why"
of eyes
so wide
they strain
they can't cry--
I can't complain
I cannot let
me go
again...
Yep, here I am at 3 a.m.

I know, I know, I KNOW
my friends,
that I've been donning
inkless pen--
afraid to go
where I have been
afraid to start
what has no end...

How can I cut
my heart in two
to share a piece
of me with you?
If my weep begins
I fear
there is no end--
we'll drown
in tears...

I am so strong.
(It's what they say.)
I fight to live
to fight each day.
I watch the sun
cast shadows' play.
I welcome dark,
in shades of gray.
I wonder how
I got this way.
Who cares? I don't.
I'm castaway...

I want to scream.
I want to dance.
I want to sing.
I want romance.
I want the blessings.
I want SIN.
I want to feel
alive again.

Oh dear father,
forgive me,
for all that I
have yet to be...
Oh my mother,
be my friend,
say that we
will laugh again.

Sisters? Daughter?
Woman's moon--
springtime shall
be coming soon.
Son and Brothers?
fiery might--
sun shine on me
to smite this night.

Forgive me, poets.
I forgot.
How to cut
through
all my knots.
I forgot
to dip my pen
in open vein
of blood's amend.
I neglected salt
of grieve--
I left, and yet,
I did not leave.

Forgive me.
I forgot to be
myself--
I chose,
self-mockery...
I was and I
remain afraid
that should I cry--
the way be made
for all the torrents
of my love,
unanswered
should deluge
a flood;
and wash all
that is left, away
and leave me
with
nothing to say.

Without a prayer...
without a God.
Forsaken--
to the Land of Nod.

baby if THIS is having an "inkless pen" and "nothing to say" then may I PLEASE have your pen. I'm sitting here shaking my head at this amazing purge of rhyme, and soul of serenity (and thinking of the one you posted as I headed for bed) and let me tell ya me twin...there aint nothing wrong with your pen..this is such a powerful, touching write Karen ...the depth of your expression and the pure unadulterated honesty in which you bleed down the page is both impressive as hell and proof of how in touch with your muse you are. I understand what your saying in this baby...all too well...this you know.
youre tired baby...but the poetry hasnt left you. I'll hush now...
SEE how your words effect!!!!
love you me twin ...see this thru my eyes ...
what was that you said to me last week?
"time to love yourself"
good advice baby...now look in the mirror

We wish ourselves beautiful ... we cry in the night.
It's not the love you feared ... but the fall from the height.

E.M.

(big hugggsssssssss) Oh Karen, this is sooooooo heartwrenching, my heart goes out to you and the angst you feel in your words! (sigh) The poetry has never left you, sweet friend, its beauty always shines in your heart just as it shines right here! Always love and believe in yourself, and you will bring so much hope and joy to yourself and others! (kiss on cheek) My heart goes out to you, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Karen, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Oh my, I am almost speechless.
So much to read in awe here.

"I want to scream.
I want to dance.
I want to sing.
I want romance.
I want the blessings.
I want SIN.
I want to feel
alive again"

Oh boy, me too!!!
How do you feel alive again? Any ideas?

The last stanza, too, was special to me.
Hang in there, I will if you will.

Powerful writing, Sweet Lady.
Wasn't it you who told me to always remember someone somewhere was feeling how sad I am when I am? Something like that I suppose..remember I'm here!

i find it humorous that know matter how many people feel the same way, you still are left feeling alone-or at least i am...

I wanted to say thank you. This one still smarts, tho...but it's enough to know, that I'm understood. I don't feel so alone now.
