One day while writing a reply,
I clicked upon Preview, whereupon I
saw that most of my humor and wit
was invisible -- what had happened to it?

I went back to the reply screen
to see there what might be seen,
and found all of my words intact.
What was causing them to retract?

Another Preview showed me the spot
where my thought was being caught,
so back a screen again I went
to see what typing was causing the dent.

I discovered a semicolon I had placed
to divide a connection but not halt the pace
of the sentence I had written,
so, after a dose of forehead hittin'
I removed the offending marks and found
the rest of my words were coming round.
A word of advice to my fellow poets:
leave the semicolon, or before you know it
you'll leave half a poem behind,
as I nearly did while writing my mind.

"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast."
Eph. 2:8-9

What, minds or semicolons?

Thanks for reading, floria!

Dear Traci,
Is this only in the reply screen, or other places also? I just tried it, and you're right. I never preview my replies. I wonder what I've been leaving off all this time? Deathless prose, I'm sure!

Thanks for reading, R! Glad you liked it.

Nan, from what I've seen so far, you can preview a reply or a new topic before posting.  You can't, however, preview in the edit screen, which I would like to be able to do.  I like to doublecheck my work because I'd rather have people comment on the content of my poem (or reply) than on its grammar or punctuation.

Anyway, thanks for reading and replying!
