The Touch of Snow

As snowflakes fall, the music fades
to unknown feelings sweeping over me.
The wet of tears, rests on my lips.
The taste of salt is on my tongue
as I catch the two mixing,
the skies happiness
and my own sad thoughts of loneliness,
on this beautiful winter morning.

For each step taken, one is left behind,
remembering those walks,
warmth of you, hand in hand.

Glistening cold under soft gray skies,
each flake falling, spiraling
landing upon the ground,
covering the old with new.

Snow tears freezing, drying
upon cheeks stained in red,
the cold of hurt.

Feeling the kisses each one gives,
the wet mounting, relieving the numb,
the ballet movements falling from air,
as twist and twirl they land
the touch of snow and memories,
upon my face.

Hey Maureen!
This is very pretty! Nice images, soft and sensual as you can write so well!
You should check out Sunshine's latest poem this morning it's really pretty like this one.

Nice work! It's good to read your work again!

Well written Wynter.  The snow has just left a light dusting so far this am, waiting for the rest of it to get here.  I know a little girl who is just waiting to go play......lol......lying.....I know to of us who are ready to go play!!  Good to see your words again.

On the wings of words our spirits fly....and our souls are free.

Wynter,
And as the snow refreshes the winter scene so your tears are refreshing the beauty of you. You just keep getting better and I like that.

This poem is so sad, Wynter...but it is also extremely beautiful.

Have missed you E...hugss and thanks

Donna, yes I waited and waited till enough snow fell to walk in it and taste it's delight.  Hope you two had fun in it *s

floria ..yes there was sadness in my words...moods swings, sometimes and most always teetering on the edge...

~V~  yes I heard that somewhere..wish there was a store where you could buy a "share"
when needed. *s

Always a pleasure, SY ... thanks

Larry...I keep getting better (Sy usually says that to me *s)....hmmm  makes me wonder if I will ever reach the end...thanks

Lauren..sometimes sad brings out the lovely in words, don't you think..*w I am sure you know, as your words are always lovely.

Karen...pain..don't think it is leaving me any time soon, but I actually love snow and the Winter.

Bill...and you are always there to respond hugsss.

Noah...too sweet you are  hugss back. *s

JameM..I love snow so it's easy to write about it whether in memories or of the now *s..although I would love to visit your state someday for warmth. Thank you for always reading me and responding

Kathleen... did you  go out and enjoy that first snow? I hope so..it brings the child out in you.

Nancy~ thank you *s..sometimes these pages can overwhelm.

Lyra, I have been admiring your work..and I love your name *s...Lyra( not the chipmunk)

Midnitesun..thank you for your kind words, always...I have not been far and have been reading..just resting the words within, calming my life.

Nicely done, M!
Especially liked the line:
"For each step taken, one is left behind,"
(so little snow here this year . . . not enough for these quiet walks.  I find a comfort in them.)

Krawdad...one of my greatest memories and all time favorite activities is walking in this small town around midnight, when the snow is freshly on the ground and it's still falling  gently, so peaceful...for some reason I feel wrapped in warmth then. Thank you for the visit and words *s
