The Sleepless Poet

by Michael

Ivory light from crescent moon
through window, falls upon the bed,
of sleepless poet, as he thinks,
of words he’s written, words he’s said.

He lights the candles on his desk,
then sits and ponders what to say.
He writes his poems near sigh of morn,
cannot write them in blinding day.

Heaven’s tears once sought his brow,
but he shook off their droplets there.
That night the stars would also weep
and only now, he’s come to care.

Too late, the crippled heart now cries.
Forewarned, his journey was in vain.
Most of his days now dead and gone.
The rest to spend in endless pain.

Scream out  your tears and ink the page,
condemned to spend your life alone.
Of all the beauty you have seen,
not one piece shall you ever own.

You’ll walk the shores by raging seas.
A tempest will your days now be.
No hand will ever reach for yours.
Contentment you will never see.

So weep, my poet, by yourself,
there is no peace that you will know.
In misery, you’ll count your days
and only sadder will you grow.

(tears fall down my cheeks) So very sad, sweet friend, my heart goes out to these lonesome poets and I pray with all my heart that he will find true happiness and his words will reach out and touch other hearts and he will step out and embrace the world! (sad sigh) So sad but well-written, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Michael, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

Michael,
This reads like a raging storm at sea that escalates with intensity. Extremely well done.
If pain doth never visit thee,
Then, but half a poet you'll forever be.
