Smiling Eyes

Don't turn those smiling eyes
Into a frown
Don’t let your tears settle the dust
I know you are down
Don’t leave your hopes and dreams
Upon barren ground
But just take a few minutes today
And look at you through my eyes
Look at you the way I do
For my eyes see a friend
to my friend I offer my hand
Let me help you up when the world
Lets you down
Maybe one day I’ll be the one in need
Then maybe you be the one that’s around
Reaching down to help me up
So take my hand maybe then
We can help each other
To a better end

Alan - great write, and very true. It's really nice to have a friend to help when one is in need. And to be able to do the same for them....

To let our smile die and close our eyes to all the goodness that surrounds us is a tragedy indeed.

Me must pick ourselves up and hold our heads high, least we miss all the happiness in our lifetime.

I was especially moved by the sincerity in your words.  Your friend is lucky to have you.

Alan, This a very nice poem about friendship. We should all be there for each other always. Chris
