Raphael's "School of Athens"--This picture Inspired me to write this poem.  To this day, their influence is felt especially in the Westren nations where our views are either Platonic or Aristotelian. On the very day I wrote it, I was watching a congressional debate on TV and a senator in his argument called on Aristotle as having it right.
Oh You Greeks

Who comes here talking,
Walking upon this dusty road
Stretched from a seeming past eternity?
Know ye the consequence of your prattling
As it comes rattling down through the ages?
How is it now that justification is given as grace
At the mere mention of your names?
What artists you were,
Your pallette of 24 letters
Creating realities more abstract
Than any artist working with colored mediums.
Yes, magic are your words,
For as public as is their utterance,
Private and secret are their reception.
And much is the faith involved when is uttered
“I understand.”
What monumental faith then to say
“I know!”
