It would come to days like this: dirt beneath my fingernails, the aching that grows colder, the truth I'm getting older without comfort of her kiss which so soothes my daily ails, and her shelter from the gales. (My love, my life, my soul's bliss!) I'm mad I wasn't bolder. I'm sad; I should have told her. Didn't know when true love fails it would come to days like this.... |
