Saved

What day was it
When it came to pass
The day
Of my life's greatest paradigm shift
When was it
What thing did I learn
On this day among days
That so changed me within
What discovery was it

It was a discovery within
A great one
Fantastic uncovering
Of a hidden truth within
A truth I denied a lifetime
Pushed from my heart
Forced from my understanding
It was a realization
Unlike any before
Unlike any I've known
What was it
This realization
This new understanding

On this day
The day everything changed
Within me changed
My heart
My thinking
My spirit
All that I am
Changed
I learned
I was in love
A deep love
To the core of my being
In love
Not only this
But...
I discovered
I had been in love
So long as I've lived
This entire life
I learned
That all this time
My heart has yearned
To acknowledge this love
This powerful love
This deep and unequivocal love
This ageless pure love
This love inspired within me
By him
HIM
Who made me to live

I am in love
Through the core of my being
With the lord
The LORD
The god of Christ
The beautiful god of Christ

Acknowledging this love
Has fulfilled my heart
More so than anything other
Speaking out
With my voice
And telling him
My creator
That I love him
With all that I am
Love him
HIM
That I desire
Deeply
To learn
To live by this love
To learn how to show
My love for him
Each day of my life
Each hour
Each moment I live
To live in the expression
Endless expression
Of my love for him
The lord

Telling the lord
How much he means to me
How thankful I am for him
How much I adore
His love for me
Telling him this
From my heart
Has made me whole
Completed my being
Brought me peace
Boundless peace
Unlike I've ever hoped
Unlike I've ever dreamed
Possible

And oddly...
This great realization
This wondrous discovery
Of my love for him
Of his love for me
Has brought me to understand
Know with certainty
What they call hell
For...
If my life
This life on earth
Ended
Before I realized
Accepted
My love for him
The lord
Then I would discover it
My love for him
My deep undying love for him
When it was too late
Too late to proclaim it
Too late to tell him
Alone in the abyss...
The ultimate unrequited love
Burning within me
All that I am
This that I am
For all eternity
An unquenchable yearning
Consuming within
Like an eternal fire
And the depthless abyss
The fathomless void
An eternal reminder
Foul and sordid reminder
That his love for me
Is gone
Gone from me
Forever
An eternal reminder
Dismal reminder
Like an endless presence
Of the bitter foulness
Of brimstone

But this will never be
I shall never know it
This place
This thing
Called hell
For I have discovered it
My love for him
HIM
The lord
For I have acknowledged it
Within my heart
Embracing it
My love for him
Proclaiming it before him
And living always
In my endeavor
To return his love
The love of god
Through Christ

Beautiful expression of faith, Erin. He does for us what we can't do for ourselves, and freely offers it to all who will receive it by faith. In Christianity we are freely given what all other religions would have us earn (a futile effort at best, knowing what I am made of).

Beautiful! The love of Jesus is in us all,
I truly believe that. It just takes longer
or a tragedy in life for some, before they open up their hearts to accept it....But
he understands and loves us each for who we are....Your expression of love for the Lord
was beautifully illustrated within the words
of your work...beautifully said!
