The Cage

Our past, with all its history
becomes the base
formed by right or wrong
reality
weak or strong

It musn't be molded to much
of the other just in case
pro and con
dreams
off or on

Our future, with all its possibilities
suspend overhead
held high by four walls
the present
trapped, it calls

To one side is emotions
to the other circumstance its said
backed up by time, it brawls
life
it runs, it crawls

Our decisions stand before us
at the wall of choice
with patience and rage
judgement
behind or on the stage

At the point of no return
its heard, a voice
"nothing more to wage"
our souls
free in the cage

mmmmm this poem made me think how we can trap ourselves within a cage made from strong bars of our past. In order to free ourselves we need to free ourselves from our past and move into the future. I'm not sure if that is what you were saying, Craig, but it sure hit me that way. I have a lesson to learn from my own vision of this poem. Thank you. **hugs**

Love I leave with you whether it is in your life now or yet the essense of your dreams.
