On Santa’s Knees

Dear Santa, would you kindly bring
Some very few important things
For brother Joey, hat and gloves
And base ball, that’s the thing he loves

For baby bring some little toys
The kind that flash and make some noise
For when she laughs and smiles wide
It makes me feel real good inside

As for Mom, she needs a dress
Red or blue, which ever’s best
Her face will have a special glow
My Mom is beautiful, you know

For me, I’d like around the tree
My life the way it used to be
And Santa, may I please receive
A father’s hug on Christmas Eve

Santa with a silent tear
Whispered in the youngster’s ear
Unraveling the magic of
A Christmas that is full of love

He said ,“I see the pain you’ve known
A father left you all alone
And you had wanted him to stay
With you at least til Christmas day”

“Sometimes the things we hold most dear
Are those that somehow disappear
And so your heart is empty of
A father‘s very special love”

“Well let me tell you, little one
There is another child, son
And He is very much like you
With tender heart so mild and true”

“He was born both meek and poor
If you should pass the church next door
You’ll see a mother and her Son
And Kings who praise the Little One

This child’s love is in your heart
It fills the whole of every part
And lights the night of Christmas Eve
With everything that you believe

On Christmas morning He’ll be there
Beneath the tree, beside the stair
Your heart will never be alone
This night when star on Child shone

A Christmas star in heaven’s height
Will bless your family tonight
And in the morning you will find
A love and joy in heart and mind

The boy was young , but understood
The Love so wonderful and good
Had come to him to warmly ease
A little heart on Santa’s knees

That night in blankets softly tucked
Without a father’s kiss or hug
His sleepy eyes with mind adrift
Remembered Santa’s special gift

On Christmas morning by the tree
He hugged each loved one happily
His lips so sweetly told the birth
From Child in heaven, to child on earth

I shall ask "Santa Kit" for a smilie for "tissue alert", as that one caught me with a tear.  But you are indeed right, that is a Father that never leaves no matter what!  Great message and of course a wonderful, wonderful poem Liz.
