Hummingbirds Fanciful Flight By: Noah Eaton 2/20/01 Gracefully The little hummingbirds fly Sucking the wild honey from the beehive Drinking the marrow from the soft lips of magnolias calyx Nieces and nephews of the sprites, chanting lyrics of all nature Prophets of wild heaven, messangers of earthly love Darting To and fro, down from the timberline and through the hummocks Flocking in swarms together, kaleidoscope lassos gyrating in packs Swimming through the azure skies, darning canopies quilt Small filigree kites brushing against the misty parachute of these green rooftops Threaded cobweb wings speckled in the splendor of the entwined floodlight Swiftly These givers of nature flutter Giving eternity’s sap to the myriads of thirsty peduncles Bleeping out green acres composition to all living creatures All awakening from the long winter sleeps, roaming the shoulders of the wilderness Stampedes, murders, schools, parties invited at Mothers Reunion, hollering in unity Unfettered Free of incarceration, free of corruption Trailing behind the ebbs of incarceration, scouting out the dusk that follows Cycling trains of time pass on by again and again, only they remind that fact Speaking times words as Dusk closes suns louvers over, welcoming night Bowing to the lively flock, hiding under the canopy Peacefully The hummingbirds retire in the cypress green Rocked gently in the cradling branches, in the warm knotholes of the trees Sipping away at the sweet residue left behind inside The robles and the sycamores carry them in shagbark laps As the evening winds seep through the peep holes, breathing winds of wisdom Gracefully The little hummingbirds fly Flying together, givers of all that’s pure These wondrous creatures welcomed to our eyes Drinking from the buttercups of creation Making hummingbirds fanciful flight a beautiful sight to behold… [This message has been edited by Mistletoe Angel (12-19-2001 10:57 PM).] |

Oh, Noah, what a beautiful poem you have written here. I wish I could live like the butterfly, stress-free and away from the corruption and madness. From your good friend Randy Meador a life lived unexplored is a life not worth living. |
