Once There was Music

Once there was music enfolding romance
Once there were tunes that invited a dance
Under umbrellas of tall April trees
Now there is silence that swells in the breeze

Once I had spun in a blue velvet dress
Feeling the warmth of intended caress
Once we had danced in the sweet midnight balm
Swaying to rhythms of murmuring calm

You were the fragrance that gracefully swept
Into the green as the summertime crept
You were the music that twirled me a dance
Spinning me into the songs of romance

Once there were stars dabbling sprinkles of light
Through tall limbs of fantasy’s dancing delight
Years now have mellowed the tunes I recall
As rustling leaves croon the lyrics of fall

Summertime days of my life are behind
Light sprightly twirls are a twist of the mind
Leaves now are falling as colors unfurl
A carpet of pleasure where dreamers can swirl

I can see only through limbs of disguise
Looking toward earth from the wintery skies
To places where lovers are dancing below
In wind sweeping whispers of glittering snow

Elizabeth,
You are the siren of this sight

Spring, summer, all the days of our past are locked inside our heart as long as we remember them, your poem not only remembers them well, but gives us all a peek at the beauty you have known.  And the poem that shows us this beauty is part of the beauty that must be you.

The music will forever play on in your words for there will always be springtime and summertime in the heart and soul of the poet you are. This poem is magnificent. I love it. **hugs**

Love I leave with you whether it is in your life now or yet the essense of your dreams.
