Reflections

How strange it seems when ringing in
Another year again,
It gives us pause to look back,
Re-evaluate, and then …

To reminisce on times gone by,
The good, the bad, the strange,
The ups, the downs, the joys, the tears,
The laughter and the pain.

Reflect upon the days you’ve had,
The challenges you’ve faced,
The trials and tribulations;
And the mem'ries not erased.

For you must keep these thoughts with you
And dare not shy away;
Our difficult remembrances
Have special roles to play.

They help us to become the
Very person that we are;
Each incident, each moment passed,
Both recent and a’far.

Take pride in your accomplishments,
Be proud to be your best …
For each day’s like a lesson,
And each moment, like a test.

/Kit McCallum

Thank you for asking me to post this one as a New Year's verse Regina. I think I wrote this about 6 year ago.  I've been a little busy of late and have been missing some wonderful poetry, I'm sure ... so I apologize everyone if I've seemed a little absent this past week or so. I was in a car accident Wednesday (I'm OK ... just got a little shaken up), and I've been also been having some fun getting a little sidetracked building some smilies. If you want to have a peek, I have them posted on my site.
http://www.geocities.com/kwmccallum/pmain.html

Hope everyone is doing well, and I promise to do some more reading soon!

It is that time of year when we should look back on this year - many will look at the tragedy I'm sure. I hope we can all find something happy to think about too. For me it was the birth of my first grandbaby!! And for 365 days of Passionate reading.

Now you KNOW I cant let that one slide by.
Sweets you been "building smiles" around here for a LONG time ...
all you have to do is SHOW UP
AND? If you are missing poetry? that means we are missing you
But do what ya gotta do and know we're saving your spot for you

Sprayed across my heart and hers
danced butterflies in the wild.
This angel, this woman,
who loves me with the innocence of a child.

Kit, I wouldn't go through this year for all the tea in China!

Fantastic poem, and glad you are okay.  You site is looking awesome Kit, and may sneak a smilie one of these days, thank you.  You take care of yourself, and we all have moments where we can't keep up with this place, so take one, you deserve it!

Kit, this is a beautiful piece here...and though some will look back at this year and be sad, given what has taken place in the USA not too long back, but, with this write and your heart so strongly behind it, it will help those that have endured any loss at all. Those who haven't had a bad year, will also respect this and take a second to look back and be thankful for what they do have. I know I am. Wonderful write here.

Kit,
I'm so glad Regina persuaded you to repost. Wise words indeed. Glad you're okay after your accident. Look forward to the smilies. Would love some lessons as to how to do that. Glad you're back.

Hey YOU.

This was written six years ago?  Well I daresay you were quite the talented writer to come up with this...

I have to say first that I love the title.  It's perfect and summarizes the poem well.

"Take pride in your accomplishments,
Be proud to be your best …
For each day’s like a lesson,
And each moment, like a test."

I like that stanza... it's very true.

Thanks for spreading some of your knowledge with us...

Lotsa love, Kitty-girl...

nothing can erase
the person we come to be
though our time here ends
for when our memory fades
ever our ripples expand

When I think of Passions, several names come to mind, and yours is up there at the head of the list....keeping Ron busy with the new smilies added to the repertoire of faces that so many of us display, for aren't we all such a mix of joy and sadness, happiness and tears...you're smilies, and YOU, have added that much more to these Passionate Pages...

Thank you so very much for the wonderful comments everyone. It really is hard to look back sometimes, and say "This was a year worthy of reflection" ... but I always find it's so important to do.

And JM? Ask and you shall receive, butterfly gal ... hope you like it ...
