~* Remember To Put On Clean Underwear ~*~

I don’t know about you, but my Mom always yelled upstairs,
“Don’t forget now - wash behind your ears, and put on clean underwear!”
Many years passed me by, and the ritual was always the same,
I never could figure out the importance, and who would care?

Well Mom's been gone a while now, but I still hear her words,
they echo in my brain each and every morning when I dress.
It’s funny how silly things stick in your mind over the years.
She made quite an impression, as these words stuck I must confess.

This morning as I was getting ready to go see a friend ,
I showered, dressed, and put on the clean underwear too.
Outside and it was snowing so beautiful and bright,
I got my mitts, and scarf out, and my new snow boots of navy blue.

It was snowing pretty hard, as I trudged through  slush and muck,
They don’t do streets here, until you’re buried up to your nose.
It hardly ever snows B.C. is usually a lush green all year,
So they’re not equipped for this downfall of snow, I don’t suppose.

I made it to the stairs of the hospital and began to climb.
It became clear to me why my Mom yelled all those years, and why.
On going up I managed to catch a piece of ice,
One minute I was looking ahead, next, looking up at the sky!

People came rushing – suppose they thought I would sue,
I flew ass over teakettle; only thing broken was my pride somewhat.
I was thankful for my Mother, and her saying that had stuck in my mind,
For in clear sight, for all to see, was the clean underwear on my butt!

~* he he, I did this in a hurry well at least the 2nd and 4th lines rhyme somewhat!  It seems funny now but it sure wasn't at the time.  Watch your step people(s) ~*

Oh,check out this snowflake site, would you ever believe this?

Hey, Sharon, there are rumors
That you wear frilly bloomers
With little bows of pink and blue well-placed.
You're really lucky, madam,
That, on that day, you had 'em
Or you'd be on the front page quite disgraced!!

(There is a line I wanna use SO bad I'm sitting on my hands to stop myself!!!!!!!LOL!)

Great to see you again, lady

Interloper ~ Maybe our Moms both went to the same "rearing" school you think

Serenity ~ Let's just say this, I was damn lucky today! LOL - as I tend to think like you do.

Sunshine ~ This my dear actually happened today, that is why the rhyming is so bad, as I had to get it down before I forgot about it.

Balladeer ~ I am getting to know how you think and what a good boy you were too, with your hands under your rear, what a dear!

At least you didnt have to live through the mishap that happened to me...I was wearing tight leather pants at a party, in the middle of dancing the seams split, exposing my panties that covered my bottom hehe, Luckily a friend handed me a sweater to tie around my waist and I got out of there asap. (hugs)

Mysteria...

I can't help but laugh. It's a wonderful poem. I hope that you didn't hurt yourself.

I'd say your mom was really wise
She knew someday your skirt might rise

She kept you from embarrassment
Of unpredicted accidents

But there's another way you know
In case you're stuck out in the snow

In order to avoid a mess
Next time you shouldn't wear a dress

Rose Petal ~ Now that would have been funny, but at least no bruises!  Thanks for dropping in.

Martie ~ I think we are of the era where they all said the same things, or at least that is what I am discovering lately.  Thank you for reading this silly little thing.

Bec ~ Well let me say this - my pride was bent out of shape for sure, and the purple things showing up are a good sign I wasn't hurt too badly.  It sure could have been worse!  Thanks, glad I gave you a laugh, I laughed eventually too.

Hypnosis ~ So nice to meet you and glad you enjoyed it, I will definitely come to see your work.  Thanks again.

Nan ~ YOU know I hardly ever wear dresses, but it would be the one day I decided to show my frilly dillies wouldn't it.

Sharon,

I'm glad to hear you wore your undies
were they Friday's or were they Monday's?
I'm sure they guys only wanted to help you
while ogling undies and playing peek-a-boo

CUTE poem!! Love the snowflake too.

How cute...a little giggle as I hope you didn't stow yourself up on that little butt buster.  The clean underwear thing is a hoot as still to this day Mom says it. Good advice! The snow flakes are awesome. So glad you came out okay!

And even now our sweet Mysteria,
Is convinced she's saved her face,
Because she believes that the rear breeze
Started on that slick staircase.

And it is just as well for her,
That we not divulge the truth,
That Mysteria, she, traipsed around BC
With that split in her snowsuit.

You see, our sweet Mysteria,
Is too positive to believe the blast
Of icy air she felt back there
Was through the split in her pants.

And we all acknowledge her underwear,
As she stated, were sparkling clean.
But if we told her why she was colder
I think it would be mean.

heh - cute story, Sharon

Michael, is there nothing sacred
As I sit here and I blush?
Trust me I had bloomers on,
and slipped on icy mush!

Grant it, they were a tad short
of being Victoria Secret in style,
but I had some on, I swear I did,
Now you quit making everyone smile.

Thank you for such a cute response (my friend visiting thinks you are pretty clever) - I said, don't tell him that he will get a swelled head,
and besides he kicks kitties!

Sharon - On this site I know better than to get a swelled head, as there are so many very fine poets here.  However....(heh)

The fall our Mysteria mentioned,
In her sorry tale of woe
Was cleaned up some, unlike her bum
When she slipped in the icy snow.

For the staircase was high and steep
Where she'd slipped upon it's ice,
And the scare tumbling down that stair
Cancelled out her mother's advice.

heh - sometimes the best laid plans.....I only wish this had happened to Balladeer.

The boys aren't being nice,
About Sharon slipping on ice.
Saying her bottom was bare,
As if done for some old dare.

I don't know what her visit was for,
What led her to that front door.
They certainly didn't see her bare,
Those were Depends under there!

ROTFLMAO!

this reminded me of a story.. I'll share.. smile

My mother bought a red dress, matching shiny high heeled shoes.
and took herself down to the "drag" where the fellas liked to cruise.
She stopped into the bathroom at the five and dimer store.
Used the potty, checked her make-up and headed out the door.

The Downtown street was buzzin, cars were honkin left and right.
My mother waved and smiled, seemed this was her lucky night.
She happened by a window, what she saw there made her stare.
They'd been honkin cause her red dress was tucked inside her underwear.

Remember me with a smile on your face, or please don't remember me at all.

LongJhnAg ~ I am just itching to dig you on a comeback here, but my fingers are tied and half asleep, but I tripped "upstairs" not down, but the aftermath of someone helping me to get up and then falling down the stairs was a bit much! LOL

Larry C ~ LOL, now you are so far off...I tripped up the stairs, and you have me confused with some of the Patients there.

Oh Lucie, that was so terribly cute, and I have heard of this before.  It happened to a very "elite person" in town here.  Don't you just love it when someone with their nose in the air, ends up hiding under a rock?  LOL, that was very cute, thank you.

It's so cold here this morning!  Much enjoyed, and I hope you're doing OK now ...
