Shangri-la

I stretch my arms towards Shangri-la
It comes into my mind from far
It is a spring of wondrous things
Built on all that desire brings

Oh happiness I fly to thee
You fill my souls periphery.
To file in time my dreamers wile
And dissipate the true of mile

Impetuous had singed my wings
Where youth was blind to subtle things
And impulse made me flit around
Like a bee lusting, nectar bound.

But time has brought each coming year
Much closer to a fruitful near
And though I stare in dreamer’s night
My mind can see it’s blinding light.

I’m closer now to what we are
And the secrets of near and far

I like this, but I can't say why. It seems quite mystical, so nice.
I enjoyed reading it!

so lend to me your heart my dear
uncovering secrets we hold near
that all might see what draws us nigh
poet, poetess seek Shangri-la's high

Your mind sees MUCH ...
and I for one am better for your visions and knowlege shared.
I thank you for that me sweet Stinky.
And I just have to smile at the wisdom and poetic grace of that closing couplet.
My day just wouldnt start off right with out a bowl of your wise rice to go with me tea
me

You're the hidden cost and the thing that's lost in everything I do.
In the sunlight, in the shadows ...
No ... I'll never stop looking for you.

You weave a spell of magic with these words that takes your reader to their own Shangri-la. I love it. It is mystical and touches the spirit.

Love I leave with you whether it is in your life now or yet the essense of your dreams.

This is so odd, just today I was reading a book that spoke of the mythical shangri-la It's not every day you hear about it twice! I like very much what you did with this poem.

A big thank you to all the lovely people that read and commented on this poem. It seems the older I get the slower I get and I find it hard to keep up. Once again my thanks and I'll try to keep up.

It seems to me that you fit that old saying, "the older one gets, the wiser one gets." It doesn't rally fit everyone I've known, but seems to be a perfect fit for you, Sy.
