Chopping onions and carrots with a frown
Over and over the blade goes down
Filling the bowl with twice as much
Those tears are from the onions you see,
Because there is nothing bothering me
Well perhaps just a slight touch.
The hours are longer than I’d desire
And the kitchen is always hot with fire,
And the dishwasher fills it with steam
Noisy with hissing, clanging and clatters
After twelve hours nothing really matters
I just want to go home to a pleasant dream

So sleep overtakes me and what do I dream
Strawberry shortcake with lots of whipped cream.

Gloom

That is SO true! I'm no professional or anything, but I cook a lot. WOW! That was great. Thank you so much for sharing it!

Ah Professor!  This is really good!  The cook who goes home tired, only to dream of more food!
Love this one, hugs, Nancy.

Thank you, Zukene_Chic,
Glad you liked it, I know a chef or two,
I hope it’s pleasing to them

Thank you, Enchantress,
Does make it real, with a twist,
Sometimes it’s hard to escape the stress.

Thank you, Duncan
Glad you enjoyed,
Reality at time even invades dreams

Thank you, RosePetal,
Pleased you liked it, perhaps your dad will too,
The dream of dessert was so it would be a sweet dream
