Richard’s Plight

Richard reappears, as summer fades,
rain fills him with sensations of loss,
a falling away of masked charades,
a reckoning of wintry truths.

In times like this, Richard comes calling,
in search of his most enduring friend,
for in his life, there is a longing,
a connection that is left wanting.

For him, only an unkind mistress
can capture his lasting affections,
love, affected as a cruel caress,
this nourishes Richard’s interest.

In the season of lengthening nights,
his predicament becomes too clear,
his demeanor transforms, to invite
ideas of our possibilities.

I assert that I am not his kind,
too dull and steady for his liking,
but the lines are sometimes ill-defined,
tangled in orbit of what might be.

(big hugggssssssss) Always follow your loving heart, sweet Corrine, and you'll find what you want and what makes you happy always! (sigh) This is a very beautiful bittersweet expression, sweet Corrine! (kiss on cheek) We all love you so much, sweet friend! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Corrine, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

I do enjoy this.
Richard's soggy summer past,
his Love's not meant to last
a ship on which he's lashed to mast
assures from it he fasts.

Outstanding, Corinne.

kind of reminds me of E.A. Robinson's look into the minds of people with poems like "Richard Cory". . .

great job Cor, you look with those same eyes it seems. . .
