Across the mountains the morning sun rose up
the call to prayer echoes all around
I sit in my chair resting, my dusty boots up on the balcony in this distant Egyptian town

Small children in rags play in the steet
the locals hussle for some trade
Ramadam lanterns flicker in the wind
as they have done for many days

Behind me lies the valley of the kings
icons of life gone by
the tombs, the graphics, the size and shapes
somewhat to much for my eyes

The day is long and dusty
and this landscape holds its breath
Its mountains guard many secrets
secrets that are silent through death

Yet the nile runs on past my window
and the fisherman cast out their nets
another day on the boat in the sun
another scene I will never forget

I have seen this land of the pharos
and burnt many images in to my mind
its culture, its weather, its people
no longer my world is blind.....

Richy, I'm so glad you had such a wonderful holiday. The pictures you have shown are just wonderful, don't forget to send the real ones. I envy you, this sounds like such a wonderful trip. Good to see you back though.

Wonderful imagery here Richy.  My nephew and his bride just returned from Egypt where they were on their honeymoon, so I have lots of catching up and pictures to see.  This just made me more impatient to get together with them.
Thanks for this journey described so well.

"and this landscape holds its breath."
What an absolutely stunning line. Brilliant!

i too have made my visit
