In the space between moments

0 posted 2001-11-14 10:15 PM

Lonely heartbeats
Quaver through her cavernous sorrow-
Clinging shamelessly
To the raw and swollen edges
Of her hollows.

The moments seem to her
A dark, tear-streaked enigma
-Unaffected-
By any fleeting hope
Of a desperately desired
Repose.

She appears only to be
An alienated dreamer-
Fallen victim to the enormity
Of her own insufficiency...
But in reality, she is broken,
Spirit flogged by frowning faces
And scathing eyes.

And so the darkness drips
In shadows- down her cheeks-
Through her veins
And into the shrinking core
Of her desolated soul.

What a raw and sorrowful poem... Your images are beautiful and heart-wrenching. Pictures such as

"A dark, tear-streaked enigma
-Unaffected-
By any fleeting hope"

really stands out to me, so very powerful it makes me want to reach out. The last two verses... I don't think a single soul could read those and not feel marked themselves. I grieve and hope that her core can be filled.

This poem is so powerful and sad. The title itself stands out, what an incredible line.

Even though you write the sad so very well, I will never get used to the idea of thinking of you ever being sad. Some people deserve nothing but happiness and that is my wish for you.  Wonderful writing and of course no matter what you write, it is felt through and through by the reader.  Now let's mix that awesome talent of yours with some happy moments and then post one that will blow us all away.  They all do anyway.  You know I loved it and I love your wonderful way of sharing words that find their own path.  Excellent write.

I always have such a hard time connecting the sadness of your writings with your picture and the happiness I feel you have with life. If this is pure creation on your part, you certainly do it well!

Thank you all for your replies, I am honored that you all take the time to read.   I am a happy person mostly, thanks to a great family, great friends, and Abrahm.  I have had some dark times in my life though, and I can draw sadness easily.  I have a sort of love affair with it you could say...I love sad movies, sad songs, anything like that...it's an emotion to be just as appreciated as happiness.  For without sadness, how could we ever appreciate our happiness?     Love and hugs to you all.

sometimes, maybe we should walk closer with sadness. . . I wonder. . .

well done here. . . the images are powerful, and the thoughts superbly presented. . . a picture that begs to be looked at from many angles. . .

truly beautiful
such sorrows we all have known
in world of torment
always it is nice to see
others share such solemn pains

Well done Krista!  I know what you speak of when you say you are happy, but write sad.  I too write this way.  Having had sadness in your life it is easy to draw on...even though you may be smiling as you write.  I can relate this this.  I enjoy your writing.

Wow, Krista, this is such a powerful, melancholy piece - as usual, you express yourself well.

Take care,
