in the dark corners of my heart
i feel the ache begin to start
a friendship once, so strong and true
has disappeared along with you

a night of fun
for one so young
replaced your breath
with pain and death
for he was drunk and could not see
he took my friend away from me

first the lights and then the crash
if i could take those seconds back
for now i'm left alone to cry
my friend is gone, but here am i........

I just lost my old best friend from HS, but it was cancer not a car accident. It always hurts, but when it's due to a drunken driver it's very maddening, as it could've been avoided. I like your poem.
