standing on a shadow's lace

                   She

she had heard the words a thousand times
tonight they finally reached her ears
all along he had said he didn’t care
and her heart felt it so painfully clear

she had denied herself so many things
through years truth was but one
the laces that she once had tied
had already been cut and needed to be undone

she had wondered about her own dangling strings
grieving alone at the resting place of it’s death
thinking it could not be done, placing one last daisy there
she stood up and breathed another breath

"...the rest is silence" (Hamlet)  Shakespeare

well written and absolutely superb in imagery, I would say it left me breathless, but taking the next breath seems to be very important.
