For Dreams

For roots entrenched in privileged soil
With vine to freely wrap and coil
Whatever heights it may aspire
And bear the fruits of its desire

For white and silent canvas voice
Awaiting palette of my choice
For empty pages left for me
To write my soul in poetry

For grand old rivers flowing stream
To roll through land of verdant green
For Blue Ridge crests and Texas plains
For buds that drink the summer rains

For maple’s leaf of crimson red
To swirl the wind to find it’s bed
For laughter of a child at play
For solace at the end of day

From Portland to Niagra Falls
The peace and oneness of it all
For this, the home where I reside
A chosen loved one by my side

For parchment where the words are scrolled
Wherein my rights are plainly told
For dreams unhindered, thought unbound
For words uncensored, fear unfound

Of all the gifts that God could give
The best is freedom just to live

This is not a poem, this is an anthem.  Well done, Lady Santos!

Liz - You are so beautiful, and so, too, is the way you write.  I love reading your poetry.  This poem is absolutely perfect.
