~* Goodbye My Autumn Love *~

My love is like a fragile leaf,
Where it will land I do not know.
Thoughts flutter in the autumn breeze,
telling my heart to let you go.

I hide here in this solitude
my heart hanging by a thread.
I imagine I hear you calling me
but again, it’s all in my head.

I long for you to kiss me
It’s for your lips I yearn.
Searing inside my heart is an ember
and only you can make it burn.

I long for you to whisper
those words I hold so dear.
Stitch my heart back up again
and dissipate this fear.

I cannot breathe without you
The flame now dies inside.
My love for you is drowning
In all these tears I’ve cried.

And like the autumn leaves,
You circle around my heart,
but you had not intentions,
of commitment from the start.

So as the leaves around me fall,
I’d hold you close if only I could,
but in my heart, I know you must go
so I say goodbye to you for good.

Mysteria...you should not do that to an old man...I was deep into your poem....then pop the picture drops in...I for got all about your poem...not really..but it did take a minute before I started reading again. You have a beautiful piece of poetry..with a matching picture..great job.

Melissa - I am so glad you enjoyed this one.

Oh Mysteria,  I cry listening to Autumn Leaves...then to read your beautiful poem with it playing in the background..well, I could hardly see the screen for tears.  Lovely indeed.

Sunshine, Sunshinemist, and Enchantress ~ Autumn Leaves was on my stereo by Nat King Cole, and I too always think that is one of the sadest songs I have ever heard, so ran to write something to put it on the background.  I am glad you enjoyed this one, and thank you.

If only the pains of life we could avoid.  Such well expressed sadness.  Thank you for sharing.  Hopefully it was as healing as it was well done.

A Whisper's Caress, and James Michael - so glad you enjoyed this one.

Larry C ~ If we had no sadness we would never know what real joy was I think.  I am glad you enjoyed this one, but it is just a poem about someone, anyone.  Thank you for reading it.
