Memories

My mind drifts back to a happy place
a song, a kiss, a sweet embrace
of treasured memories deep within my soul
of achievements and success to reach that special goal.
I drift upon the sad times too
of sickness, sorrow and things that made me blue
not too long do I stay
for quickly they do pass away.
I remember all those who I have loved
and the special gifts they gave to me
a sense of worth and self-respect
they set an example for me to see.
My mind drifts back to sounds of laughter
to joy and peace
a time where days were endless
and nights that did not cease.
As my mind drifts towards the future
many treasures do await
for the one who has the patience
to quietly sit at the gate.
And when the gate shall open
I will drift on through
to collect all the memories
that are made brand new.

I do love this, such a hopeful outcome, of erasing the past with a future that is better.
Peace.
