My world spins before me in utter disarray
Nothing I see causes a sense of recognition
Objects float by on their way to another dimension
Where time and space stand completely still
They are the guardians of my mind this eve

I am wrapped in their web of illusion
Searching my very soul for a way out
Hoping against hope for a revelation to occur
A vision perhaps showing me the way home
I long to be once again in my own bed and room

I’ve wandered far away on this journey
I hoped it would lead to some kind of discovery
So far I have discovered that I don’t like myself much
The person I am and the person I thought I was
Do not seem to be the same for right now

The road was long and the path was thick with brush
I chopped through what I could in an effort to pass by
Oh, I did get through but it took a greater toll on me
Than I could have ever imagined in my wildest dreams
Nightmares to be honest, eating away at my sanity

I did not have to travel the path alone, thank God
I had you beside me all the way helping any way you could
When I had no strength to go on, you lent me yours
When I found myself alone in the darkness and cried out
Yours was the voice I heard softly beside me easing my fears

I’ll never forget those words or the sound of the voice that spoke them
“Remember, my child, you are never alone, for I am here for you always”
This seemingly simple phrase guided me through some of the worst times
I have ever had to face in my lifetime and I am grateful for it
For had it not been there, I would not be sitting here today

I struggled on to climb the highest mountain I have ever seen
The peak towered above and seemed to reach out to the heavens
About halfway up the trail, I lost my footing and slid backwards
I sat where I stopped for a moment feeling discouraged by this setback
It was then I heard your words echo through my mind once again

I felt my strength be renewed as I lifted myself up off the ground
Looking up to the heavens in a loud voice I cried out
“I will not be defeated.  I AM worthy, I AM courageous,
I WILL prevail against this and all other trials before me”
With that I attacked the trail more determined than ever to succeed

When I reached the summit my breath was lost for a moment
Before me I saw an angel whose garments were the purest white
I fell to my knees in reverence as she turned to approach me
She smiled down at me and held out her hand as if to give me something
Timidly I offered my hand to this beautiful creature

She gently placed something in my palm before turning to walk away
I tried to speak to her, but the words would not come from my mouth
It was if I had lost my ability to speak for a few moments
I watched silently as she slowly vanished before my eyes into the horizon
I sat like that for a while unaware of the world around me

Finally I came to my senses and felt something in my hand
The angel had indeed been here for she placed something in my palm
I slowly looked down at my hand to behold the gift she left
My eyes fell upon the most beautiful perfect rose I’d ever seen
The delicate petals were golden yellow frozen in full blossom for eternity

Captivated by the simplicity of such a heartfelt gesture
My eyes instantly filled with warm wet tears that overflowed
Running down my cheeks they fell to the ground in a soft puddle
Then and there I thanked God for the most precious gift He ever gave me
That of the perfect golden rose and the friendship it represented

I shall carry that memory in my heart for all of eternity
For no one can ever diminish its strength or beauty
It lives in my very soul soothing the savage from within
Tonight I fall to my knees once again bowing before God
I give thanks for our friendship and the beauty of the perfect rose

Chills down my spine and goose bumps,
Not to mention in my throat a lump,
Your words hit home in my heart,
About your journey just at it's start,
Strength in your soul, faith in God,
Will ensure success wherever you trod,

K, well, tried a rhyming respone, I failed miserably, but hey it's the thought that counts right? Even though I didn't not succeed as eloquently as you in expressing myself, I loved your poem. . . I hope to see more to come, but I think I'll go find some older ones while I wait.   Thanks for sharing, I enjoyed.

  Congratulations to a wonderful poet.

Ahh, LW, first, let me congratulate you on your 5,000, a very worthy accomplishment, and secondly, but not the least in order, your words.....“I will not be defeated.  I AM worthy, I AM courageous,
I WILL prevail against this and all other trials before me”...as long as you cling to those..you will aways prevail...very gentle smile

Kit: I'm not sure where this came from, but it poured right out into the page once I started.  I thought it was a fitting milestone marker though.  I'm glad you enjoyed it and I thank you for your wonderful replies.

sonjes: Thank you very much.  I do what I can!  Nice to see you back, welcome.

Logan: Thanks, my friend.  The words are the words I now live by for life has taught me many lessons, but the most important one so far has been to never give up.  I hope that other can draw strength from this as well.  Very gentle smile back at ya!

Thank you all for the congratulations on my 5000th post here at Passions.  I've always liked it here although I have not been around as much lately.  Even if you don't always see me, I am never really far away.  Thanks to all of you for taking the time to read this and reply.  I appreciate it very much.

Beaufiful story here. Life may have struggles, but friendship is indeed a perfect gift.

If she who dies with the most toys wins, then can I have some toy boys please?
