where insanity meets breeding

You've broke more hearts than you could know
Ever since you let me go
Well, if I'm frank, I must speak true
I guess I broke the hearts, not you
For when I think I've found a love
A heart that fits like hand in glove
I go and try it on for size
But then one day I realize
That never will he make me feel
A love as strong as ours was real
And then I gently break his heart
Tell him that I must depart

The last sad heart that I did break
Well, that one really took the cake
I'd vowed to him, I'd pledged my troth
A broken heart's the thanks he got
I pray one day I'll find true love
The Gods will shine down from above
I'll know it's there upon my door
When I don't mourn you any more

If she who dies with the most toys wins, then can I have some toy boys please?

Tracey~

Exceptionally well expressed!  I relate so much, no matter who I date, they always are in the shadows of "him."  I'm keeping this one~

Take care,

Tracey

You have heard that old expression, "I'm going to wash that man right out of my hair", well you can wash him out of your heart too but it takes alot longer.  Your 'Mr. Wonderful' will come along and help you forget him.  Really enjoyed your words and thank you for sharing.

Melissa-Thank you. You obviously know from where I write

Sandra-so glad you enjoyed it

Arthur-we don't try to be heartbreakers. It's just that sometimes one of you wonderful men takes hold of our hearts and we find it difficult to get it back

Sunshinemist-glad you enjoyed it

Ariana-I've been trying to wash him out of my heart for a long time. I hope you're right about Mr Wonderful coming along to make me forget him.

Sven-thank you. I will continue to dream

SmartChic-thank you. Glad you liked it

JamesMichael-I wish no one could relate to this. Sadly, too many of us do

Suetang-thank you for the kind words. I like the way you think-someone out there is having a hard time finding me

Daniel-thank you. I like the way you think too

Kit-so glad you enjoyed the poem

LoneWolf-thank you. I'm sure my day will come

Tracey~ Aww sweet poet...what an honest expression of your heart.  The rhyme and flow were perfect and the content...well it really melts your heart.  Don't give up on true love!  It'll hit you when you least expect it.

Hugs,
~Krista

Your beautiful words & creativity allow me to connect with the same in myself.
Thank you for having the courage to share yourself so that I can too

Duncan -yes, my poetry is very real-it's the only way I know how to write and is often a good catharsis. By the way resumes cheerfully accepted here

Kitten-thank you for those lovely words. And no, I'll never give up on true love. I am an eternal optimist

Ah, Tracey, boy can I relate to this one.  Many hearts get broken, including one's own, in the quest for true love.  It's inevitable. This is a great write!
