The Gift of Love in The Face of Tragedy

We watched with saddened hearts
As they documented the horror
Of terrorism, hate.. the unspeakable
Our eyes burned with thousands of tears
For those who were so unfairly taken
Mothers, fathers, sisters and brothers
The brave, heaven sent rescuers who
Lost their lives so others would live
Fear and doubt struck our country
In a simple sweep of quiet fate

But in the face of tragedy
We gained knowledge of love.

Millions of outstretched hands
Offering the comfort and help
Without a single second thought
Our country pulled together strong
The bond of humanity and love
Shining brighter than ever before
Hearts opening, prayers whispered
In a time of confusion, anger
Love comforts our nations loss
I am today more than ever
So proud to hold my head high
And say I am from the USA
The land of promise
The land of freedom
And the land of love.

I believe our pride is unrivaled in the world today.  No one gives as much as we do.  Nicely said.

hmmmmmmm.
what can i say, dear?
once again,
you have used your magnificent talent for distilling the vast and complex down to simple feeling, and as always, i am stunned by the result. lyrical and beautiful.

Tara,

You spoke what so many of us feel in our hearts.  This is a great country and only proved how great it truly is in the face of this national tragedy.  Excellent work, my friend and I too am proud to be an American.
